About Sumaila Adam
Master in Traditional Drumming and Singing | Drum and Dance Instructor | Drum Maker
Sumaila Adam was born and raised in Tamale, Ghana, in a family deeply rooted in the Dagbang drumming traditions. From a young age, his passion for culture and rhythm came alive. His father, a skilled drummer himself, often took him to ceremonies and festivals, where Sumaila learned to drum and sing by his side. These early experiences ignited a lifelong love for the art. He joined a performance group at the Tamale Cultural Center, where he honed his skills in drumming, dance, and traditional singing. His talent opened doors across West Africa, allowing him to perform at major festivals and connect with the broader cultural community. Sumaila also shared his knowledge with children in schools in Tamale and in various villages across Dagbang, passing down the rich traditions and wisdom of his culture. In addition, he is skilled in woodworking and crafting traditional drums. His deepest passion lies in sharing the culture of drumming, dance, and song.
At SOEHOE, Sumaila brings this treasure of knowledge to guide you, through the powerful Dagbanli rhythms and movement, toward joy, liberation, and the inner strength that resides in your own heart.
